Two Reports different results in the contribution module

Hi

I am running the individual contribution report and the Pleadged to actual comparison reportsfor one memebr. The two reports are giving me different results for the same time period and the same fund account. I don't know why. see

Why would the individual contribution report shows an otstanding balance of $300 and the Pleadge to Actual Comparison report shows Differene of $200

Why would the individual contribution report shows an otstanding balance of $300 and the Pledge to Actual Comparison report shows Differene of $200

The differences is that the Pledged to Actual shows the TOTALS per envelope, doesn't take into account the dates, it just totals. So if you have the date for that report setup to cover two years, it will total what has been given. So, they were under in 2016 by 300, but the are over in 2016 by 100, so the totals for the date range is a total pledge amount of 1200, a total giving of 1000, and difference between pledged and given of $200.

The Contribution Report only shows the giving toward a particular YEAR. The reason is that this report is used for Federal Income Tax purposes. You can only deduct what you have given in that particular year. So, it does not take into account that they are over in 2016, only that they were under in 2015.

Thanks for the response. That explains the difference.

Unfortunately, we want to capture payments that were made this year by members whose pledge balance was that of last year. So, we post the previous year's outstanding pledge to this year when they pay the balance amount. We created a designation called last year memebrship pledge to differentiate it with the current year.

Unfortunately, the Pleadge to actual comparison report does not show me the designation

Is there anyway to modify it to shows the desigation?

No . that report will not display any designations, the Contribution Report will do that however.
