Reports

Post by janehelp »

Hi

I am running powerchurch ver 10 with office XP.

When I run "default" reports from power church, letters aren't printed as they should be... Example "MONTRÉAL would show MONTR+AL". I have to "export data" in order to print reports properly.

I also have the same problem even with "screen preview".

In "skills and activities" there is no where I can export data. I have to run a "default" report.

Is there a way to have it print the right characters (language) or maybe export data?

I need to print Sunday School reports by tomorrow. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you

I think its a problem with your default font, as the system normally has to use a 'special character' to use the language accent markings.

What do you see when you display a report preview ?? If the character looks fine in the online preview, but it doesn't print correctly, I suspect an issue with your printer fonts.

What kind of printer are you using ?

I appreciate your fast reply.... Even if i as for "screen preview", it'll not display the same characters as in my file. Example, I can have a name set as "RENÉ" in membership, it'll print or display "REN+". I have tried different printers... It's the same with all. I even had the same problem when exporting data. Whether in excel, word or acrobat.

Again, I appreciate your help

Hmmm .... this does sound like the font does not support the accented characters. Zorak or Jeff, any ideas ??

help please

Hello all:

Does anyone have an answer to my printing problem?

Any hint or different way of printing would be greatly appreciated.

I had to print all different reports and had to correct them manually.

If the software does not accept french characters, will it be possible to have the problem adjusted with next update?

Thank you again

Is it possible for anyone to try it and let me know if he's able to print? At least I'll know if it's the software or a setting I have adjust.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you

Well, I'm not sure I'm the person to answer your question but here goes---

I thought I would try to duplicate your problem on my computer. However, I'm in the United States so I'm guessing the basic language settings on my computer are different from yours. To determine your default settings, do this:

Open the Microsoft Control Panel.

In Category View click on Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, then click on the task Add other languages.

(Or in Classic View click on Regional and Language Options.)

In the Regional and Language Options window, under the Languages tab, click on Details.

What is displayed under Applied Services?

If I can, I will change my settings to correspond to yours to see if I can duplicate what you are experiencing.

However, it would be far better for someone who uses the French language and a French-character keyboard to jump in here....

Thank you for your reply... That's exactly what I am looking for... Someone to duplicate my problem and see if they get the same thing.

In control panel, regional and language, languages, details, settings, default input languages, i tried both... french and english... Still wont work.

If you want to duplicate the situation, try creating a member and call him René anything... then try running a view report and see if u'll get René or Ren+.

The "é" is key "/" right of "." on keyboard.

Thank you very much for your help

Thanks for letting me know which key to use!

OK, after setting up my computer to start in French with a Canadian French keyboard, I duplicate your situation in PowerChurch Plus 10 on Windows XP.

I enter René (using the key to the right of "." to type the final character) and that is how it appears in the Personal Profiles dialogue where I enter it. But, when I run a report on that individual`s profile, the name that prints out is RenT.

I am not where I can send anything to a physical printer right now, so can`t test that part; but saving the report in .pdf or .xls results in RenT instead of René (which I would think is expected behavior since that is what the PC+ report generated).

So, bottom line, I can reproduce your problem but have no idea how to solve it.

So sorry,
Eden

Thank you for trying :)

At least I know now it's not my pc or configuration... It must be a bug in the software. I hope it gets modifed with next update.. I am sure lots of french people use that software.

If anyone uses french letters, please tell me how you do it.

Thanks

I would appreciate if you try something else for me... Reset your pc as to what you usually use... In control panel, add french keyboard to your keyboard and try again to see if you'll be able to get the right letters.

Thank you again for your co-operation

Jane

Jane,
In the previous test I had my language set to French (Canada) and the keyboard set to Canadian French. Is that what you were intending? If so, I've already done it! :)

I am going to be interested to find out (with you) what is the source of the problem and what is the solution.

Blessings,
Eden
