Budgeting General Fund/Tying to Contributions
(Also posted on Accounting forum) We have been using PowerChurch since July 2011. I am setting up our first budget in PC for fiscal year 2011 (Oct. - Sept.). I have no issue with budgeting the expense accounts. I have a budget for our general fund of $144,000, divided evenly across the months. When I do a budget report, it is not tying what is actually received into the general funds from contributions, to what our general fund budget is. Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

Are the Contributions Funds setup to properly credit/debit the checking and income accounts in Fund Accounting ??jeanio wrote:(Also posted on Accounting forum) We have been using PowerChurch since July 2011. Are you actually posting from Contributions to Funds Accounting, or are you only posting to Contributions ??

Yes, the funds are setup properly, and I do post to Contributions, and then to Fund Accounting. Are the Contributions Funds setup to properly credit/debit the checking and income accounts in Fund Accounting ?? Re: Budgeting General Fund/Tying to Contributions
Then the budget report should reflect this income. I just did a test using my test machine, and the latest backup from the church system. Using the report defaults of only the Income and Expense accounts, the report showed our income. We don't budget an amount for contribution income, and it showed the amounts as 'unbudgeted' which is correct.jeanio wrote:Yes, the funds are setup properly, and I do post to Contributions, and then to Fund Accounting. Are the Contributions Funds setup to properly credit/debit the checking and income accounts in Fund Accounting ?? The problem may be with the report options ...

Re: Budgeting General Fund/Tying to Contributions
When you mention that you have a budget of $144,000 for the general fund, is there an account number associated with that? And what is the account for the contributions? If the two are the same account or accounts, then it should be showing. If they are different account numbers, that would be the problem most likely. We have been using PowerChurch since July 2011. Re: Budgeting General Fund/Tying to Contributions
I thought I had Contribution Income setup right, but after taking a closer look, I see that it is crediting the general fund equity account, when maybe it should be crediting the general fund income account. Is that right? When you mention that you have a budget of $144,000 for the general fund, is there an account number associated with that? And what is the account for the contributions? Re: Budgeting General Fund/Tying to Contributions
In order for it to appear on the income and expense report, or to show on the budget report, yes the income account (a 4000s number) needs to be credited and not the equity (a 3000s number).

Thanks to everyone who helped me solve this problem.
