Is there a way to record someone contribution in the system, if they purchased books and donated the books, so we have the receipt - we want them to have donor credit but it is not a cash contribution but I would like for it to show up on the individual receipt.

There are a number of ways you can do this.

You could keep this record out of the system entirely by creating a letter thanking the person for the donation and listing the value of the donated books. Include a line that states this letter can be used as proof of a non-cash donation for tax purposes.

When I added the non-cash gift, it takes you to the same type of pages that looks as if it puts the amount into the accounting system, and I really do not want it to go there. The letter works for me but my congregational member was wanting it to show up on his one page sheet. I maybe be a little slow in understanding.
