Is there a way to set up a "building fund" account so it doesn't show up in my checking account balance?

No ... because if you're using one checking account, all the funds are there, and you REALLY want to show that. Use the Cash Management Report which will show you the checking balance in each FUND, rather than one in total.

I'm assuming that the Building Fund is a separate accounting fund from the 01-Operations fund, right?
