I am having a problem emailing contribution statements via the "All Contribution Statements" report. The program gets so far as to begin processing 9 or 10 statements, at which point I begin to see a message saying that there are too many messages for one connection (may not be the exact wording of the message, but close to it). Any ideas as to what the cause of this problem may be? Many thanks.

It could be that your ISP does not allow the upload of more than X amount of emails a minute. It could be an Anti-SPAM prevention technique.

Are you on dial-up or broadband? Who is your ISP ??

Hmmm. I hadn't really considered it being an anti-spam issue. The error message is within the PCP program, but I guess it could be triggered by the ISP. I have high-speed broadband from Comcast.

By the way, this is what is happening:

When the sending of statements begins, in a window I see:

Processing: {Env.#}{Name of recipient}

After each one processes, the next one appears in a scroll-down fashion. After 10-15, I see:

Processing: {Env.#}{Name of recipient}
requested action aborted: too many messages on a single connection

This appears for all remaining unprocessed statements until it reaches the end with a "FINISH" at the top of the aforementioned window.

I see that upon setup, there is an override feature for # of emails sent in a given time period. It is not clear what the default is. Again, I am sending out approximately 65 statements. Must I override the default setting?[/i]

The default in PowerChurch is to send them all at once. If your ISP limits the number of emails that can be sent at one time (and that's exactly what it sounds like is happening), you can play with that setting. Based on what you're seeing, try setting it to send 10 emails every 1 minute.

Thank you for your response. I am told my ISP (Comcast) limit is 100. I also have a firewall program that has a protection feature which combats outgoing email activity that resembles spamming. I have disabled this feature. I also set the maximum # of emails in PCP to 150 per 5 minutes. Still, I get the error.

I've tried numerous fixes now, and I think the 10-15 parishioners who have been getting their statements processed are getting tired of receiving theirs again and again. My goal was to process these quarterly, so I may have to wait until the end of next quarter to find a solution.

Is that limit per hour, per connection, per day?

There is a feature when you're getting ready to send the contribution emails to Restart at a specifc record. If you choose that, you'll be prompted for the last successful envelope number, and PowerChurch will pick up from there and not resend the first few in your list.

What MR on you on? There was a similar report of a problem like this that was fixed on the 3/9/2005 release.

Using the advanced e-mail option to limit the number of e-mails sent in a certain amount of time could cause problems when e-mailing Contribution Statements. The program would send the first set and then none of the others would be sent.
