Check reader

Post by dpetherbridge »

We recently purchased the power church check reader. Unless I'm using it wrong it doesn't seem to be that much of a time saver. I was hoping it would not only read the MICR but the amount on the check. Is there a reader that does that?

The Program only can recognize the account number, which is associated with the envelope number the first time a check is scanned. The system will remember the last amount given, so all you need to do is verify that the check amount is the same as the last and then on enter.

We usually have two people counting, one person at the computer, the other inserting the check into the reader. The system pulls up the associated envelope number, the computer person reads the name and last amount, and the check person will confirm the name, and amount, or say that the amount has changed.

I felt the same way when we first received our check reader. But it takes the longest when you first start using it as it is learning everyone's information. It will continue to improve, the more you use it. I do find that now, it does take less time.
