How do you properly enter fundraising income into the system?

What is the fund raiser for? We use the contributions module as many of the collections during our fundraising are 'free will' type of offerings, with no expectation of receiving value back just a gift to the church.

Are the givers expecting something at the end of the year for tax purposes ?? If so, I'd definitely use the contributions module, with a specific Contribution Fund setup for this fundraiser.
