Reconsile Issue - Again...
Hey Neil,
If you remember, last month, I had a lot of trouble when I went to reconsile our account. Well, I am reconsiling for May and it isn't coming together either. Here is what I got ...
Adjusted balance: 66418.10
Account 1110 balance: 68027.86
I have triple checked our statement and everything is on both power church and the bank statement. Any help would be appreciated.

If you zeroed out last month, then you really need to see if there are items not entered into Powerchurch, or in Powerchurch, but not listed as cleared on the bank statement.ngaham wrote:Hey Neil,

Other than that, I really can't help because I can't see your system, and if I remember right, you have stuff going on that I really cannot figure out.

I have gone through my transactions multiple times and they match. Last month PowerChurch had me adjust my beginning balance. There wasn’t anything you couldn’t figure out that I can think of. Actually, you’ve helped me with everything!
Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
That's my point ... you've done adjustments, and other things and you're now off again.ngaham wrote:I have gone through my transactions multiple times and they match. Quick question, did the beginning balance adjustment equal the amount off this month ?? Just wondering.

I believe so, yes. If I understand this correctly, Power Church says we have more than the bank, correct?NeilZ wrote:That's my point ... you've done adjustments, and other things and you're now off again.ngaham wrote:I have gone through my transactions multiple times and they match. I don't recall. Do you have more than one bank account?ngaham wrote:I believe so, yes. No. Just one.
Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
Then if you set it up correctly, you should only have one bank account listed 1110-000, and that is pointed to in every Accounting Fund you may have.ngaham wrote:No. Just one.

Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
It is. For example, I have 01-1110-000, 02-1110-000, etc..NeilZ wrote:Then if you set it up correctly, you should only have one bank account listed 1110-000, and that is pointed to in every Accounting Fund you may have.ngaham wrote:No. Just one.
Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
OK .. bank to the reconciliation.
Powerchurch says you have more than the bank. Last month you adjusted the starting balance. Did you ADD funds, or SUBTRACT funds from the Powerchurch balance.
If you ADDED funds to the existing total, is the amount you added equal to the amount you show OVER the bank balance ??
If so, you didn't need to do that adjustment.

New development ...
It was my error that led to such a high amount difference. I didn't scroll all the way down on the bottom of the reconsile form and missed one. I am not getting this:
Adjusted Balance: 68,076.26
Account 1110 Balance 68,027.86
To balance: 48.40
I did an online search on our bank account for $48.40 and it returned no transactions. As you know, I'm new to all of this. What is the next step when you can't find the difference?

Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
Again, the bank is saying you have more cash than the system does. I would check to see if there's any transactions entered in Powerchurch with that amount listed. Make sure you didn't 'clear' a transaction that has not cleared the bank.ngaham wrote:New development ...

That said, what I do is finish the reconcile, and leave that amount. If its same next month, then I adjust the system if I can't find anything showing with that amount.

Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
Just to confirm, you mark the reconciliation as done for that month, despite the difference, and move on to the next month.
Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
Do a backup, and then mark it as done. Hopefully, you got your June bank statement online, or will get it next week. Use that and see what happens.ngaham wrote:Just to confirm, you mark the reconciliation as done for that month, despite the difference, and move on to the next month.
Again, if you have everything cleared, and you have no checks or other deductions open from April and May, then if the bank shows that you have more funds than what you show, you will have to make an adjustment.

Re: Reconsile Issue - Again...
Hello to Ngaham - I feel your frustration. Neil you may recall helping me with the same issue because we had many posts. I never did figure out why I couldn't reconcile. I finally installed a fresh copy of power church, restored an old backup which was 4 months back when the problems began and re-entered all the data. I used the messed up system as a reference to re-enter information. When through, everything reconciled and no more problems. Kept the old system for awhile until it was no longer necessary to use as a reference.
