Account Tranactions

Post by Dave Farrington »

Good Afternoon I hope someone can help me. I just finished setting up our churches accounts adn I need to start adding in payments to our sports ministry. Payments are refistration fees, t-shirts etc.. I am not sure whether to use accounts recieveable or just post the transations straight to fund accounting. I have very little knowledge of accounting.
Thanks

We have an athletic fund associated with our church school, which sounds similar to your sports ministry. When we receive money for things such as sports fees, concession stand sales, gate admissions, etc I just record a deposit in Fund Accounting. We do not use the accounts receivable module. I really don't see a need for you to use the accounts receivable module unless you have a need to create bills.

Thanks for the help. The only time I will accounts recieveable modual is for the registration fees so we can bill the parents. For the rest of the fees we will use the fund accounting module.
