Changing Original Checking Balance

Post by Dave Farrington »

When I set up PC V9 I was given the wrong balance for our main checking account 01-1110. I have not done any transactions (paid any bills, received any money, or posted any transactions) for this checking account. My other checking account 03-1120, for our sports ministry, is in balance, I have posted transactions to it and I am having no problems with it. How do I adjust the money in the main checking account, 01-1110, to reflect what is actually in the account?

You don't have the option of just changing your balance. This has been a two-edged sword in many ways, but mostly it's been a good thing. To make an adjustment to an account like that, you can just enter a journal entry for the difference. You'll either debit or credit your bank as appropriate, and offset your Fund Balance (unrestricted net assets).
