Bank Deposit

Post by Irving4562451 »

Using PC+ do I enter a deposit simply as a deposit plus enter the contributions in the Contributions module? I entered Contributions for Sunday last, but the deposit contain the proceeds from a Fall Fair held the previous day. The deposit on the bank statement will show say $3200, but the Contributions for that day show only $900 in the Check register. How do I enter the $2300 for the Fall Fair?

What I do is keep the two separate, and make a separate deposit slip for contributions (which I print from Powerchurch using a formatted deposit slip), and a separate deposit slip for anything else that will be deposited in the bank drop box.

This keeps the two sources of funds separate, and you show two separate deposits at the bank. Contributions are entered and posted normally through the Post Contributions function. For any other deposit, a deposit entry is made in Accounting -> Funds Accounting -> Enter Transactions.

In your case, I'm going to assume that you included those funds on the same deposit slip.

What I would do is this:
1. Post Contributions to Funds Accounting as normal.
2. Go into Accounting -> Funds Accounting -> Modify Unposted Transactions find the transaction sent over from Contributions and add two additional lines (assuming that 01-4300-000 is for 'special income':

01-1110-000 Checking DB 2300.00
01-4300-000 Income CR 2300.00

Enter in the memo box: $2300.00 income from fall fair is included in deposit with $900.00 from Contributions.

Then save the transaction. It will show up as one deposit in Powerchurch and will match the one deposit at the bank.
