Transferring $'s from line item to line item

Post by LindaW »

Here's my situation...
We have an Evangelism/Outreach line item that has $3500.00(01-5480) budgeted to it and it is distributed evenly throughout the year.
We had a conference "ManUP" to which I created another line item (01-5826) partially because there was a $1500.00 donation to help cover the costs of the conference and I want to track the total cost of the conference. The conference is due to cost approximately $3000.00 so I was told to use money out of Evangelism/Outreach to pay the remainder of the bills.
So what I want to do is add a transaction transferring the $1500.00(or whatever) from Evangelism/Outreach to the ManUP line item so all the expenses can been seen in ONE line item.

Do you see any problems with this kind of thing?

Thanks again for your wisdom. It seems as if the little things trip me up or maybe it's because I am over thinking things...LOL

Linda,

I see no problem with this at all. I use the same process when I make a mistake and charge the wrong account for an expense. Just be very clear in the notes field as to what the transfer is all about.
