Removing profiles from Activities that are over

Just wanted to double-check something before I forge ahead.............

We sometimes have special topic Sunday school classes that may last for 6 or 12 weeks. There are people that are in existing long-term SS classes that temporarily attend this special class and later go back to the original. When this happens, should we always remove them from the original class and add them to the new activity? When this new activity is done, then I guess we move them back to the original class. (Assuming that they are returning there).
Am I correct in that this does not affect the attendance records? In other words, the attendance records for the temporary class will remain even after all the profiles are removed from it?

Our SS secretary has added people to multiple classes and it is really distorting the attendance statistics.
thanks,
Debbie

ps. we are PC Online verison 11

Yes, you can remove them from an activity and retain that attendance data. You can run, for example, a report like Detail of Personal attendance for a date range and an activity and see all that were present whether they are still in that activity or not as long as they are marked to include in membership module reports on the family contact screen.
