Archiving Data

Post by tenalea »

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to archive data in the membership module? Our records go back several years and I would like to be able to clean it up by deleting people who haven't been here for a long time, but at the same time I would like to be able to preserve the history by moving them to an archived file. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The only way to archive, and one that I've done for the past 6 years, is to do a backup of the entire database, and save it to a CD, then do your updates.

There is no way to archive individual records.

I agree 100% with Neil. And always save a complete backup of the program version you are using, as data backups can only be restored on that version.
For example, a backup made on version 8 cannot be restored on version 8.5 or version 9, only on version 8.
Unless you have a saved full backup of the PROGRAM the data backup was made on, the backup well be useless when you upgrade to a tater version of the program.
