How are people using this new field? What is it's real purpose?
Also, wouldn't checking the 'Email Contribution Statement' box confilict the Profile record check box?
I haven't checked it out yet but I'm guessing that this field is used in the Directory program too.

Re: Family email
I will let actual users speak to how they are using it, but here is how it works in the program:
If you e-mail from Personal Profiles and the person doesn't have an e-mail address, the program checks to see if there is a family e-mail address and uses it if appropriate. This is also the case e-mailing from Contributions and Activities & Skills.
If you e-mail from Family Mailing List and the family doesn't have an e-mail address, the program checks to see if there are personal profile e-mail addresses and uses them if appropriate.

Re: Family email
Thanks for the clarification. wish I had known that about a week ago. We methodically went through all the families that did not have an email and put in one of the family members' email to make sure they wouldn't be left out of household mailings.
