Scheduled Backups

Desktop Version PC+ 14.4
Windows 11

I've setup an automatic backup in the Windows Task Scheduler but it fails with code 0xFFFFFFFF and no explanation, no log, so what am I missing?

Under Power Church System Setup, I selected a separate drive on the PC as the backup location, the folder exists and is reachable.

I selected "send email" and entered a valid email address.

In Task Scheduler I have it starting "C:\PowerChurch\PCPlus14\pcbackup14.exe

I take it that you have tested the backup from the program, and that it does backup to that drive? Does it give you a warning about backing up to the local PC? Have you manually tested the scheduled task by doing a manual initiation?

The most common issue that we have seen with the Windows Task Scheduler processes is it sometimes requires the "Start In" field to be assigned when setting up the scheduled task.

We published an article in one of our old email newsletters that explains how to set this up and that "Start In" part is listed in step 8:

Sorry for the delay in responding, I appreciate your advice! Its all fixed now.

Yes, Backups worked OK when I triggered them from the Utility menu - the suggestion about needing to fill in the "start in" field on Task Scheduler was what fixed the issue.

Thanks for pointing me to the KB article, but when I come across these, I generally discount those that are 10+ years and several generations of PC+ (and Windows!) old. I've been burned in the past by "old advice."

I understand about the 'old advice', but these are usually verified by the Powerchurch techs on a regular basis, and Windows has not changed the way the Task Scheduler works for a long time :)
