AFAIK, it does not, as it requires a local database to pull the data for the upload to the PDA.

Sure hope they don't cease development of the Palm platform. In any case --- I suspect that the new Palm WEB OS (Pre) will fail see and that there will be a rush back to the old Palm OS customer base.

At least that is what I am praying! :D

FWIW ... the company that bought Palm Source still products the Palm OS, although its been renamed. Problem is there are no current companies making any devices that use it, including Palm.

Perhaps if they had continued to improve their hardware and Palm OS instead of trying to match the iPhone, the company would still be healthy. The problem with Palm was that their earlier phones such as the Treo, tended to have gravity induced failures. IE: they broke when they were dropped, whereas other smartphones such as the Blackberry are more rugged.

How FUNNY you should mention "gravity induced" problems.

I had a Treo once where the main ear speaker broke after inserting an earphone (a very common issue with Treo's which the manufacturer said was irreparable). However someone at Treocentral -- who had the same problem -- recommended I do what he had done to repair his Treo. He said to stand over a cement floor, raise the Treo to exactly two foot off the ground and release charger side down. This maneuver fixed the problem.

Several months later our Music Pastor had the exact same problem with his Treo. I told him to drop it from two foot on a cement floor. Voila!

Gravity ---- both an enemy and at times --- a friend.

So...I am confused. I just purchased a Palm Pixie which has Palm Web OS. However, I just found out the other day that I cannot use Pocket Powerchurch. Is there any way to make Pocket Powerchurch campatible?

The old Palm OS ran on the original Palm PDAs. The company has gone through many different hands, and finally wound up as part of HP (I believe). The Palm Web OS has no resemblance to the original Palm OS, thus there is no way to load the Pocket PowerChurch program on anything that runs Web OS.

The future of Pocket Powerchurch beyond Palm OS and Windows Mobile is one that the guys at Powerchurch are trying to figure out. There are so many different phone and PDA operating systems now (Android, Web OS, Blackberry, iPhone, etc) that trying to make it compatible with all is a nightmare as there would be different code bases for each system.

Now, if they all ran Java, then that would be an option, but again, that's up to the software development guys at Powerchurch to determine what makes financial sense to the company.

Thanks Neillz for the reply. I guess, the ultimate question is what makes Pocket Powerchurch beneficial and how many customers can actually use this application if it does not work for Palm WebOS, Blackberry, or IPhone?

I can say, that the ability to update my visitations and have access to contact info constantly is a HUGE benefit. Unfortunately, right now, our database is pretty much land-locked and useless if not at your desk or having someone in the office.

I hope they will add further coding to allow usage of this app...

Just my thoughts.

FWIW ... there are still some who have original Palm PDAs, as well as smartphones that run Windows Mobile 6.5 that can still run Pocket PC.

This is why we have essentially discontinued the Pocket PowerChurch program. It is no longer listed on the site, unless you have a direct link to it. If someone still has an old Palm or Windows Mobile device, it is still available, but we don't advertise it anymore.
