not seeing updates from other pc. please help

Post by davem2421 »

our Church just got new 2 pc's

they are running windows 7 64bit with PowerChurch10.4

I got one pc setup as the server and the other one is shared back to this pc.

when I backed up the old pc (running winxp with pc10.4) and then set it up on the new pc and did a restore from the backup everything worked fine, this was on the server pc, when I went to the other machine I mapped back to the server pc and copied the shortcut over when I tried to launch the app I got an error I then installed PowerChurch on that pc then launched the shortcut (that was mapped back to the server machine) and it came up and I saw all the data that was on the server pc that was restored from the backup.

however (sorry for the long explination) the problem I am running into is that if I make an update on computer 1 computer 2 does not see it and same thing goes if I make an update on computer 2 pc computer 1 does not see the update.

is there something I'm doing wrong, I don't know much about this software and just volunteered to help set them up.

Thanks for the assistance if this is not clear please let me know and I'll try to make it more specific.

It sounds like you are running two separate installations of the program, rather than sharing and mapping a single installation, as detailed at the following link:

It sounds like you did a full install on the second machine. What I would do is REMOVE Powerchurch from the second machine (client) completely. This would involve using the Win7 Control Panel applet to uninstall the program. I don't have access to a Win7 partition here right now, but it would equate to the XP Add/Remove Programs applet.

Then go into My Computer and on Drive C, delete the POWERCHURCH directory that was create there.
Once all that is done, follow the directions as listed in the Knowledgebase Article listed below. It is written for WinXP, but the process is similiar for Win7.

What you will basically do is map the networked drive from the server to the client, then run the NETSETUP10 program from the mapped Powerchurch drive on the server. This will setup Powerchurch on the client.
