We are verifying our email address before a mailing Contribution Statements. I used the Membership/Profiles/Send Email messages to a group
There are 153 addresses on file. It said it connected to the server and the graph went up to 32%. It then counted down about 3-4 minutes and tried to reconnect to the server again.
I get the following error:
"A connection to the email server could not be made. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host".
I'm up to date on my MR's. (10/27/08). Last September I was unable to email our statements out either. I have unchecked the System Setting/Email tab option so not to use advanced sending options, nor do I validate certificates.
Please help!

It looks like PC sent about 1/3rd of the list, then paused to send the next 50. Then it looks like your ISP disconnected from its end, possibly due to your sending of 50 messages at one time.
Some ISPs think this type of email is being sent from an automated SPAM program. Try resetting the number of emails sent out to 20 at a tme to see what happens.

Well, if I remember correctly, some time ago I read in this forum that in v10... we don't need to click any option in the Advanced Sending Options in File/preferences/email.
My ISP has told me more than once that they don't know the PC+ system but 50 emails should not be a problem from their end.
Unless I can get this fixed I guess I'll have to print all of the statements again this time. Hope someone can help.
Thanks.

Oh, one last thing to my previous post of today:
Do you think my problems could be due to the fact we only have dial-up in this area? (we're dying for faster speed here).

OUCH .... John, I believe that may be your problem. You may be getting hung up on due to inactivity.John Dykema wrote:Oh, one last thing to my previous post of today:

In this case, I would definitely go into the advanced area and REMOVE the checkmark to allow all emails to go at one time then see what happens.

Thanks Neil. I did that on the very first run. If I remember correctly, it generated 50 on the first group, and still paused for 3-4 minutes and then did another group. I remeber getting up to 62% done and then it failed with this error.
I then went back to checking the box, setting it to 20 emails at a time and waiting 5 minutes. It still it fails.
I bet it's due to dial-up, grrrrr... Looks like we print them all once again.
Thanks again.

Re: Problems emailing to a group of members.
OK, we finally got a cellular air card because we can't get DSL in our area. I was able to email statements this time. I am relieved.
