Here is the problem: PCPlus 11.55 won't run on church computer's HD; only from thumbdrive.
First, here is what I have done so far. I first loaded version 11.5 onto my church computer from the install disc and had program update and convert our version 9 data. So far so goodI I proceeded thru the setup until I got to Payroll setup, where I was baffled by the Tax Tables setup, so I copied the entire PCPlus 11.55 folder onto a thumb drive, took it home and after getting help from Neil and a Youtube video about the Tax Tables, completed the Payroll setup, doing all this while running the program from the thumbdrive, where everything was saved.
When I took the thumbdrive back to church and COPIED the PCPlus11.55 folder back onto the church computer HD and tried to run the program, I get the following message: "The current user account does not have proper permission to access the PowerChurch Plus data files.
You must have full control of the shared data files."
I CAN run the program off the thumbdrive in the church computer, but I want to have it installed and running properly directly on the church computer's hard drive again. As you probably assumed, I only put it on a thumbdrive for the convenience of working on it at home.
Please tell me what I can do to fix things. Thank you.

1) I'm going to assume that you have already done the conversion of the membership & accounting data, and that was copied along with the entire PCPLUS115 directory tree.k9vet wrote:Here is the problem: PCPlus 11.55 won't run on church computer's HD; only from thumbdrive.

Take the thumbdrive home, and using the built in Powerchurch backup, do a backup of the entire database. I'm fairly sure the utility wont won't let you store the backup back to the thumbdrive, so save it on your computer locally. Copy that back to the thumb drive.
2) Where you went wrong was trying to copy the thumbdrive back to the church computer, when all you needed to do was restore a backup. You've probably messed up any permissions/registry settings that the regular install has done. So
Uninstall Powerchurch 11.55 from the church computer, then reinstall using the install disk.
When the setup program tells you that its done, it will either tell you to open the program, or will ask you if you want to start the program. In any case, the first time the program runs after the installion, it will ask you if this is an upgrade or new install. Choose new install. Enter the church data as requested. The program will create all the tables. Then once its done, you will do a RESTORE using the Powerchurch backup utility and the backup file you created at home. (Again, assuming what I said in item 1 is true). Once the restore is done, and Powerchurch reindexes the tables, and exits, Fire up the program again, all your converted data, and the updates to Payroll should be there.

Re: Problem running v 11.55 on Computer HD
As an alternative to the procedures you just gave me above here, what if I do the following?-
Reinstall PCPlus 11.55 on the church computer from the install disc and ask it to (again) convert and update our version 9 data. Then as before, I would follow the setup prompts, but this time I can also do the payroll Tax Tables set-up right then and there, since I now know how to do that, based on your help yesterday.
This way there will be no need to mess things up with a thumbdrive! Wouldn't this be a more efficient approach?
Your help has been invaluable!

You wouldn't mess anything up, just carrying a backup file from home to the church. That said, what you suggest will work if you want to go through the whole Payroll Setup again.k9vet wrote:As an alternative to the procedures you just gave me above here, what if I do the following?-

However, make sure you UNINSTALL PCPlus 11.55 first, make sure the entire PCPLUS115/DATA directory is gone. You need to basically clear out the registry settings by uninstalling, along with all the converted data.
And before you go to run the conversion again, do a Powerchurch Backup in v9 to insure you have your data safe.
