I have check the password preferences. It seems there is no restriction on user on per bank account basis.
There is no way to separate accounts in Fund Accounting, however you can restrict access to Funds Accounting, and to the Accounts Payable & Receivable modules.

This would involve a change in the way things are done. The secretary would no longer be able to do the checking account reconciliations, the treasurer would have to do that as I would not allow the secretary access to Funds Accounting. The secretary would have full access to the Payable and Receivable modules for her duties.

That said, since the accounting database covers all 4 accounting modules, I can see a major issue with the database if the treasurer does his work at home as any changes he makes on a laptop at home would not be reflected at the database at church, and vice versa.

Trying to do backups and then restores to either the church or the laptop computers could cause problems with overwritten data and lost transactions. Not to mention that the membership module interacts with the Contributions module and if the treasurer adds a new person while at home, then attempts to restore the database at church, again, you could lose data entered on the database at church.

There is no procedure to merge these database changes, so there is going to have to be a change in the way things are done.

The secretary may have to do all the contributions and membership entries then transfer the contributions data to the treasurer in a file, and the treasurer would then import that into Funds Accounting, and does all the other accounting functions such as Accounts Payable/Receivable and Payroll.

OR

The Treasurer would have to do everything on his laptop at church with the database networked off the secretaries computer, this way only one database is used and everything is updated to that one database.
