Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Completely locked out - What now?

Post by shannonoaks »

I am very new to PC and was setting up the individual user accounts last night. This morning when I tried to log in it has completely locked me out. I've tried every user and the System Admin and none of them are working. Now what?

This is an unusual occurrence, I've not seen anything like this in a long, long while. In the following, I'm assuming that you have installed to and were working on a standalone computer or the computer that would be used as the server in the network.

OK .. how far have you gotten in the setup ?? If all you've done is install the program and then setup users and passwords, then the easiest thing is to just remove the program, and reinstall.

Use the Add/Remove Programs applet in XP (or equivalent in Vista & Win7), to remove the program. Then go into My Computer and find the original drive (usually C:) Powerchurch was installed to. You will still find a POWERCHURCH directory. The reason for this is that removal of the program normally does not remove the POWERCHURCH\DATA directory.

Delete the Powerchurch directory completely, this will also remove any remaining data files. Now reinstall Powerchurch.

However, if you've already added data to the system (IE: Membership or Accounting data), and you want to keep that information, then its a bit trickier and you should call tech support on Monday.
