Not receiving copies of sent email

Post by Darci »

When I send group emails through Power Church I do not receive a copy in my sent email folder (we use Outlook.)

Other info:
I use Power church for group emails -I have never sent an individual email through Power Church.
I do receive a copy of sent emails when I send emails through Outlook.
We use Windows Vista.
We have Power Church Plus version 10.

Thanks for any help!

Darci,
I believe that PC+ bypasses your server and sends the mail directly to your ISP. You won't see a copy in your Outlook. I had asked the same question a few months ago.

You are correct sir. Powerchurch has its own SMTP module and sends all emails though that module.

If you send individual emails through Powerchurch, using the send email button on a personal profile, Powerchurch will link to Outlook at that time.

My work-around is when the dialogue opens for the email report, I "print" it to .pdf and file it in a Windows folder created for the purpose.

Personally, I would prefer to have both individual and group emails work the same way. As it is now, some of my "sent" emails are stored in Outlook's "Sent" folder and some are stored in the folder I created.

My other "wish list" item for this topic is for the email report to reproduce the body of the message one time only and use subsequent sheets to list only the recipient list. The current behavior of the report is to duplicate the body of the report over multiple sheets, with each one listing however many recipients will fit on the rest of the sheet of paper.

Thanks, Darci, for reopening this issue.

Eden,

I believe I have an idea why group emails are not sent through Outlook. While Microsoft provides an interface used to send an individual email, they may not have provided a 'group' email interface that can be used outside of Outlook.

There is a workaround if you must get a copy of the email. If you, as many churches do, have a person setup as 'Lucy Plate Offerings' to have an envelope to account for those loose offerings, add the church's email address to that name, and then make sure its always selected when group emails are sent. You'll then get a copy you can save if needed.

As far as duplicating the email on the 'sent' report, I totally agree, the email need only be reproduced on the first page, with subsequent pages only listing email addresses sent to.

What I'd like to see on that report, is not only the email address, but the actual name, if possible. IE: WackyTom234234@myemail.com Thomas Wright

Neil,

Thanks so much for your helpful comments. As a matter of fact, I always copy myself on the emails so - duh! - I can just save my own copy instead of pdf-ing the report.

And I'm right with you on the wish to see the actual name; it would be nice to have it sort alpha by last name, but that might be asking too much!
