Re: RE-INSTALLATION OF DELETED DATA
We use a pair of 2T external drives that are attached to the host on alternate weeks and programmed to back up the full host system on Saturday evenings (so I can exchange them on Sundays). I can easily add the PCP backups to these drives. There is space enough to back up PCP everyday. (The host sys...

Re: RE-INSTALLATION OF DELETED DATA
Thanks for reading. We will be more diligent using the PCP backups in the future! Did it that way originally and then got lazy with the system backups. The system backups saved us back in 2015 when we had a ransomware attack. I'll copy my story to PCP and see what they might contribute.

RE-INSTALLATION OF DELETED DATA
At FBC Oak Ridge, PCP is installed on a single host computer with drive-mapped connections via Ethernet to other office computers. The host is protected by Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, which now provides both automatic backup and internet security functions. A recent sequence of failures inclu...

Moving PCP files to new server
Our church office system consists of seven computers in a star network. One computer functions as a file server and hosts PowerChurch. The remaining computers have mapped connections to the PCP directory and the Public files directory on the server. Each computer has one Administrator user account a...

Is there a "convenient" way to recover the view showing the original fill-in screen for a check that has been previously posted? The intent in this case is to recover a vendor account number that should have been on the check but was not entered elsewhere.

Cleaning out older PCP installations
We have recently upgraded PCP from 11.55 to 12, and after a couple maintenance releases, it appears to be working properly. While cleaning up other files, we discovered PCP files dating back to at least version 10.4, both in our mapped-drive server and the satellite machines. Is there a list identif...

Re: Transferring data from another accounting system
Your analysis was correct; beginning balance was needed for the account of concern. This method works; all the associated balances appear to be correct. Thanks.

Transferring data from another accounting system
My church implemented PowerChurch module by module, Accounting most recently, and Contributions a year or two earlier. Prior to implementation of Accounting, donor restricted funds were tracked with single liability accounts, numbered 2xxxx (5 digits), in our earlier accounting system. These numbers...

Re: Server connection
The server is a Dell OptiPlex 780 with two 1 GB drives in a Raid 1 configuration. It is running Windows 10 Pro. It is a mapped drive on the six office machines using it for file sharing. This is not a sophisticated setup, but has been stable and usable for close to 10 years, through both Windows 7 a...

Server connection
PCP is installed on our server. The server connection is valid because I can see the PCP directory from the satellite finance computer in use. In attempting open PCP, we're seeing a message from Windows: Error reading file .... \background.app Checking the PCP directory shows that the file listed ab...

Re: Correcting transactions in Accounts Payable
Neil, Thanks again for an immediately useful response. I'm sure your instructions will work, and I appreciate your description of the Release button function as well. Out of curiosity, I re-read the AP section of the manual and didn't find what I would consider a clue about how to correct an AP tran...

Correcting transactions in Accounts Payable
We recently “discovered” the Release Restricted Funds buttons on the AP module Maintain Open Invoices and the Funds Accounting (FA) module Enter Transaction screens. A few transactions later, we also discovered these Release buttons will double the debit to a 48xx release account if this account has...

Looks like a perfect recipe. I had a general idea of what would be needed, but your extra detail will speed the process greatly. Thanks.

Transfer posts in Contributions module to Accounting
We have used PCP for 8-9 years, all modules except Accounting. During our conversion from commercial accounting software to PCP, along with a change of fiscal year, we deliberately posted Contributions data within the module (i.e., just updated the module) between July and December of 2016. (We manu...
