How to move profiles between families in PowerChurch Plus

Below you will find the steps to handle moving a profile from one family to another within PowerChurch. Common examples of this are when a family divorces or when a child moves into their own residence.
Before you begin you will need to know: 1) how joint contributions will be handled, and 2) who will be the primary caregiver for any children involved (in the case of a divorce).

1. In older versions of the software, the first step is to create a new family listing for the member to be moved. Version 11.5 allows you to skip this step.
Click on "Integrated Data Entry" under Membership. To prevent creating a duplicate record, uncheck the "Use Add Family Assistant" button and click the "Add" button at the top of the window. Enter the Family information as appropriate.

2. Second, bring up the profile for the original family.
Find the family you will be working on, in the Integrated Data Entry screen, and click on the "Family Members" tab.

3. Handling joint Contributions.
If the person to be moved has the same envelope number as another family member you will have to remove or change the envelope on the member that will not be keeping the contribution records.

4. Moving the profile.
Select the member that you want to move and click the "Move Profile" button listed at the bottom. If using Version 11.5 or higher, a prompt will pop up asking to move the profile to a new family or an existing family. This will open a locate window; select the new family this person will be moved into and hit the "OK" button. You will receive a confirmation window. Clicking the "Yes" button will automatically bring up the new family with the member listed.

5. Additional family members.
Other family members, such as children, should be listed as members of the primary caregiver's family. If you list them as members in both families you will see them listed twice on several reports. It is also possible that some information might not be accurate, such as attendance data or individual contribution records. Please refer to the Combining Duplicate Profiles article for more information.
